As the sun sets on your summer festival season, we can finally start counting how many sleeps we have until a certain winter festival comes our way again. Traditionally taking place over the last weekend of July, Splendour In The Grass 2017 will be held a week earlier this year, taking place from Friday 21 until Sunday 23, at North Byron Parklands.
The highly anticipated 2017 Splendour In The Grass lineup has finally arrived, and it’s a doozy. Headlined by rockers Queens Of The Stone Age, reformed indie heroes LCD Soundsystem and UK trio The xx, this year’s lineup is also packing a bunch of homegrown Aussie talent, including Vance Joy, Peking Duk and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.
An iconic destination on your Splendour journey, the Tipi Forest is back to expand your festival experience! The Tipi Forest is the totally unique, creative heart of Splendour in the Grass – a personal playground of art, music and magic. Representing our exceptional alternative culture, the Tipi Forest is a treasure of interactive creativity, bringing together musical producers, DJs, performers, psychedelic lightscapes, ephemeral art, ancient shelters and sacred geometry. A glimpse into another possibility, the Tipi Forest invites you to explore the idea that peace, love, unity and respect can be found on the dance floor. Express yourself, dance like no one’s watching and be transformed by your connection to everything and everyone in the Tipi Forest.
This year the Global Village is set to deliver fans another eclectic mix of offerings to inspire and enrich the Splendour weekend. Located in the heart of Splendour, the Global Village will present cabaret performers, conscious theatre, jam bands, live art classes, yoga, healing, massage by one of our talented professionals, tarot, circus acts, indigenous elders and dance workshops. And that’s just before breakfast!
The Bohemian Lounge has easily established itself as the alternative hub of Splendour. Offering a world class cabaret performance program by night and inspiring dance, drumming and culture workshops by day, bask in the bliss of this cosy venue that is literally full of lounges. And bohemians like you!
Last year we introduced The World Stage, a performance space which redefined our concept of world music. Located in the middle of the Global Village, The World Stage returns in 2017 to present some hot contemporary world bands from Australia and afar. Bridging ancient traditions in music and dance, with modern day innovations and revolutionary perspectives, The World Stage embraces the cultural diversity that makes our world wonderful!
Where else can you go to a music festival and listen to some of the world’s sharpest minds talking about seriously edgy topics? Splendour Forum of course!
