Hosted at major music venue Technopolis, the City of Athens has organized the Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival since the year 2000, presenting global developments in jazz music to an appreciative audience. As one of the major cultural events of Athens, it usually takes place at the beginning of the summer, as usual on the grounds of the famous Technopolis.
Spanning classic jazz and funk to Afropop, the festival attracts an important crowd for four consecutive days. It is also quite popular as thanks to the aid of sponsors, the festival boasts a free admission for all, in accordance with the organizers’ belief that a festival should not be carried out only for commercial purposes. So it is not surprising that every year, each day sees over 4,000 people gathering at Technopolis to discover and enjoy jazz music in all its forms.
“Technopolis“ City of Athens, in collaboration with the embassies and cultural institutes of the countries-members of the EU in our country, has been organizing the European Jazz Festival since the year 2000. In 2013, after twelve successful years, the festival broadened its horizons and developed into the international “Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival”. It is estimated that more than 4,000 people per day attend the festival each year.
