Amsterdam Coffee Festival

About This Project

March 9 -11, 2018
Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Details

A bold subculture of innovation is celebrated at this festival dedicated to what used to be a morning beverage. No more a breakfast libation, coffee connoisseurs, foodies of every stripe and industry professionals gather in the capital of the Netherlands to imbibe. Amsterdam Coffee Festival is a vivacious festival filled with music, art and of course, fabulous coffee. Learn, drink and enjoy.

All weekend, the public is invited to see what’s happening from 10 to 19. Participate in tastings, devour some culinary treats, listen to music and get to know baristas in a street food market-like setting. At their special lab space, visitors can experience interactive demonstrations, workshops and tasting sessions, as well as talks and debate. The latest in latte art, competitions, coffee techniques and machines and musical bands, from jazz to electro to tropical house, lend an atmosphere of fun and relaxation. If you get hungry, all kinds of food trucks offer an array of dishes from hamburgers, to local Dutch specialities to crepes and pasta.

What’s On – Highlights!

The Lab

The Amsterdam Coffee Festival’s extensive Lab Program is designed to offer visitors an array of interactive demonstrations, workshops and tasting sessions, as well as fascinating talks and lively debates. For consumers, the weekend offers fun and educational sessions to inspire and entertain.

Coffee and Art Project

Latte art is not the only art form that you will find at the Amsterdam Coffee Festival, 9 to 11 March 2018. During the festival there will be a selection of the most beautiful works of art that was during the Coffee Art Project at the London Coffee Festival. The Coffee Art Project challenges artists every year to create a work of art in which our favorite theme is central. And before you think you will be presented with a dormant series of cappuccino still lifes: this assignment has resulted in a special variety of artworks in which a link is made directly with coffee. Without exaggerating: the result has become a tribute to the hot drink.

Innovation Showcase

For the first time in the Netherlands, the Modbar will be on display, the newest showpiece of espresso machine maker La Marzocco. To test the Modbar, not the least are invited. Lex Wenneker, the barista champion 2015 and barista Yakup Aydin, the flagship of Bocca Coffee , will make their appearance and conjure your favorite koffies in front of you from the ‘koffietap’.  In the True Artisan Café you will find two machines that are served by two international coffee roasters. Each successively takes over the café for two hours. Among others, Five Elephant from Germany and Small Batch from the United Kingdom make their appearance. In addition, various machines and grinders will be exhibited and demonstrated at La Marzocco’s Innovation Showcase. Take, for example, the Mahlkönig K30 Peak, a medium-sized high-quality espresso mill or the Marco SP9, a new filter that excels in both simplicity and aesthetics, and the BV3 group with integrated scales. Visit the Transformer House and be surprised. The La Marzocco team can not wait to show this to you.
